His iconic Tuvstarr inspired everything from environmental campaigns to Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal and Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Bauer drowned tragically at just 36 in a shipwreck on Lake Vättern, but his mythological world of gnomes, trolls, and fairy princesses lives on as one of Scandinavia’s greatest artistic treasures.
