Landscape painter and American artist Alexander H Wyant turned the wild beauty of the American frontier into pure atmosphere — and this printable wall art collection brings his luminous vision straight to your walls. Born in Port Washington, Ohio in 1836, Wyant was inspired by George Inness and the Hudson River School before evolving into one of the defining voices of Tonalism — moody, poetic, and deeply personal. He studied under Hans Gude in Düsseldorf, absorbed the genius of Constable and Turner in England, and co-founded the American Watercolor Society. After a stroke paralyzed his right arm during a government expedition through the western landscape of Arizona and New Mexico, Wyant taught himself to paint with his left hand — and his art only grew more powerful. His later works, painted in the Catskills and Adirondacks, shimmer with soft earth tones and atmospheric light. Today his classical art prints hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian, and the Brooklyn Museum.
